16 x 20 x 1. Mixed media. Acrylic, modeling paste and paint chips. This piece was rendered in hopes of achieving the texture of moss. I started with some swift marks on paper in vine charcoal and repeated them in black paint on a board, which already had a thick application of modeling paste. As I began applying paint chips with acrylic medium, I decided to vary the textures leaving some of the areas exposed to the layers of modeling paste. This was a very time consuming process, and at times I felt I was weaving a rug, but at the time this painting was being created, we were in the midst of the Corona Virus and the distraction was welcome.
