Highlights of 2025
The year began with painting, but the majority of my creative energy went to sculpture in 2024. I love variety and often slip between these mediums, as well as working on murals and portraits. Generally, when I’m in Savannah my paintings lean toward coastal themes and light, while in Nashville I tend to be more experimental and take greater risks with form and technique.
It was challenging and fun to experiment with new materials. The two center sculptures were made with laminated insulation panels with modeling paste and acrylic paint. The third image included woven conterfeit canvases. The two outside images had a wire and screen armatures, then built up with joint compound and modeling paste. They both have attached elements of canvas with acrylic and acrylic paint skins.
2025 also saw the completion of a 5 year collaboration of the HeArt of Tennessee sculpture installation at the Discovery Center museum. Collaboration included: 24 community artists painting the hearts; fence design by blacksmith Joe Brown; sculpture by Michael Baggerly; concept and execution by Ginny Togrye and Sharon Kolli. The dedication was held February 2026
More painting…you may notice how different the styles are in all my work. They look they were painted by six different artists. Experimenting keeps my creative mind satisfied. Dissatisfaction of my previous work spurred me to paint over early creations. Once, I piled about 8-10 paintings on a tarp in the garage and threw a can of black paint over them all.
A birthday present from my two sons. So much fun and out of my comfort zone. Loved every minute!
An Artful Evening fundraiser for the Rutherford Arts Alliance. Beautiful party with music, theater and artwork benefiting an alliance which helps fill community needs such as providing funds to children to pursue music lessons and pay for instrument rentals.
